IMPLANTOLOGY
Dental implantology makes it possible to surgically replace one or more lost dental elements with artificial titanium roots which, by means of a biological process known as osseointegration, allow a fixed prosthesis to be fitted.
The implants, with their many shapes, can be inserted using different techniques and connected to the prosthesis at different times.
IS IMPLANTOLOGY PAINFUL?
No. During surgery, the effect of anaesthesia completely eliminates pain sensitivity. With the correct post-operative drug protocol, even after the operation the discomfort goes from ‘none’ to ‘absolutely bearable’.
IS THE ARTIFICIAL TOOTH NOTICEABLE?
In order for the implant tooth to be ‘invisible’, one needs to have excellent surgical and prosthetic skills. You need to know how to regenerate bone when needed, how to improve the quality of the lost gum and finally be able to create a tooth that is the same as the others.
HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO WAIT TO GET MY TEETH BACK?
It depends. When there is sufficient bone, we are able to extract a compromised root, insert an implant and immediately deliver a temporary tooth. When there is a lack of bone, we do whatever is necessary (bone regeneration) to recreate it. In this case, it can take up to several months.
WHAT IF I AM MISSING ALL MY TEETH?
This is not a problem. Sometimes the situation is simpler than if a single tooth is missing. If all the teeth are missing, it is almost always possible to perform immediate loading surgery for the entire arch (or the whole mouth). In a single operation, under conscious sedation, we place the necessary implants and, within a few hours, we can give you a new smile.
